Lion-tailed Macaque (Macaca Silenus) has been named for its lion-like tufted tail and mane. Now endangered due to loss of habitat, they can only be seen in the rainforests of the Western Ghats, including Periyar. They live mostly on trees but are excellent swimmers too.
